1. Kismet – 1943

A Bollywood representative that is now a pop culture, ‘Mother India’ was an early 50’s anti-climax surrounding the hardships of women on one side and Ethics and standards on the other.
One of the first movie showcasing on women alone in Bollywood. To this day, the movie was submitted for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1958.
The movie was entirely given an applause globally and comparing to today’s net price, this movie’s net price is 117 crores.
3. Mughal-e-Azam – 1960
The tickets to this movie, if we’re still available would be sold out for the highest price. This was a major turmoil and turbulence, the movie was played in, Maratha Mandir in Mumbai – showcasing the popularity of the movie. It earned a revenue of 5.5crores, when compared to today it is equal to 132.7crores.
4. Sholay – 1975
The 70’s was a protest time for Bollywood when it was at the box office, and the biggest chartbuster of the decade was ‘Sholay’. Unlike other movies, this one collapsed on the first fortnight itself but took up speed only from the third week.
It grabbed a never-beatable record of 60 golden jubilees. It gave us the remarkable characters like Jay, Veeru, Basanti, and Gabbar.
5. Kranti – 1981
Manoj Kumar, director, producer, writer, and editor of this movie, as well as being a part of the huge cast, this movie became the biggest hit of the 80’s. It was also the most expensive movie in those days, and the net worth 10 crores was earned by this movie, when compared to today it is equal to 84 crores.

6. Hum Aapke Hain Kaun – 1994

It earned a net price of 69.7 crores which compared to today it is equal to 310 crores. This was the first Bollywood movie to cross 100-crore mark.

8. Gadar – Ek Prem Katha – 2001
The 4th film to reach a net price of 100 crores was Gadar- Ek Prem Katha. Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starred movie sold almost all the tickets at the box office.
It managed to earn a gross of more than 286 crores. Movies with a Nationalism story in those time weren’t standing up to the mark, whereas Gadar gave the recognition to this paradox.
9. 3 Idiots – 2009
3 Idiots were based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller, which became a blockbuster of the recent time at the box-office. This movie stars Amir Khan and Kareena Kapoor.
This is based on the hard times undergone by an IIT engineer during his 4 years course and how they overcome it. The popularity of this movie gave a Tamil remake released in 2010 and a Chinese version is still in progress.
10. Dabangg- 2010
To glaze of the list Salman Khan’s movie Dabangg is added to the top 10 hits which earned 187 crores. It crashed the opening day collection record of 3 Idiots, having the title of the highest opener of all time across India.
No doubt Dabangg was a sentimental showcase among the India crowd – heading to a sequel in 2012. It also has a Tamil and Telugu remake version.
